It has been a busy couple of weeks for HFC. We were able to welcome back Jean Soucy, Rick Garcia, and Don Lampron who went and did some much-needed work and renovations in the orphanage kitchen.
Right now we have 2 teams on the ground in Haiti. One from Grace Chapel in Lexington, MA and another from Free Christian Church in Andover, MA. Also, two interns Matt Pritchard and Amy Reynolds have begun their internship in Haiti and a missionary couple from Anthem, AZ, Mark and Marsha Romens will also start to serve with HFC in Haiti this week.
Please continue to pray for those who are serving in Haiti, Dr. Bernard and Claudette, the workers at the orphanage and school, the HFC children, and the children who attend our school. |
You still have the opportunity to go on a summer missions trip to Haiti with HFC. There are open teams planned for August going out of PA, MA, and WA. Please email tara.kasey@hfchaiti.org for more information if you are still interested in joining a team.
We will also be continuing teams in the non-summer months. If you are interested in putting together a team, contact us and we will give you more information. |
You can help us reduce our costs by updating your contact information and selecting electronic delivery for HFC mailings and receipts. Go to www.hfchaiti.org/emailme to fill out our online form. |
| Update 6/2/2010 |
Several of the children have written their thoughts following the earthquake, we will be sharing them with you periodically through our email updates.
January 12, 2010, I was upstairs in the house because I had nothing to do. Before the day of the event I didn't wash my socks which means that I should wash the socks on Tuesday, the day of the event. After school, I came at home, ate and after 2 hours, I put water in a basin to wash my socks. While I went to get the socks, an idea came to me to go upstairs. I went upstairs the house and I talked to Jefthe. At 4:00, the boys play soccer upstairs, this is the reason why I went to play soccer. While we played soccer, I scored the victory goal but the Emmanuel's team refused to accept the victory. I said, let's give up the discussion and I went near a post. It was 4:50. After 3 minute, we feel something below our feet. It was an earthquake. Herlens told me, we are going to die and Reginald said, today is the end. The earthquake begun very hard and some house started to break near us. After 5 seconds I said to the boys, Don't go anywhere, stay where we are because we are near a post. Really they stay but when the wall that was near break, I said we must run. We ran, and go out of the house. It was very incredible, I couldn't see nothing. The dust invade all the city and some cries started. I went to the girl's house to see how they are, but I couldn't believe what I was living. The girls cried and the earthquake started again. I ran out and go to the mission with Drisk, Reginald and Jefthe. When I return in the orphanage after 3 days, I saw where I should wash the socks invaded with rocks. I thank God because he saves my life from death.

| Prayer Requests |
· Praise the Lord for being our Fortress, Stronghold and Deliverer and for His protection of all our children. · That from this tragedy God would provide new opportunities to rebuild Haiti for His glory. · That Haitians would unite in peace and solidarity of purpose to rebuild Haiti. · That gangs would lay down their arms for tools to join the rebuilding. · There would be a spiritual awakening in Haiti and among those who are moved to help. · That God would protect and strengthen all the aid workers faced with so much tragedy (specifically Keziah Furth, a former HFC Intern and nurse). · That God would quickly unite the adoptive children of HFC and New Life Link (NLL) with their waiting families. · That the leadership of HFC would be united as they undergo a discernment process regarding our role in rebuilding Haiti and the future of our non-adoptive children. · That the Lord would continue to protect our children and secure the buildings from further damage. · That Dr. Bernard and Claudette would be strengthened and renewed that they would not grow weary as they deal with this tragedy on the ground. · That God would renew His call on each of us and strengthen us to do His work, wherever He calls. |
