Are You Ready for the Recovery?
Shh. If you listen closely you'll hear it -
the sounds of growth opportunities.

the last 20 years, revenue growth - and by extension the demand for products
and services - was fueled by several factors that no longer exist. Chief among these were: - Easy credit for businesses and consumers
- Record tax bases which allowed governments to
spend without constraints
- First an inflated stock market (1992-2000)
followed by an inflated housing market (2000-2008) that enabled businesses and
consumers to spend beyond their means.
When I'm
speaking with CEOs and salespeople around the country I always caution them
that, "Just because the fish were jumping in your boat doesn't mean you're a
fisherman." Not only are the
"fish" not jumping out of the water anymore, they've taken a deep dive and can
only be found and secured by organizations that are at the top of their game. Historically,
all your business needed to be was good enough. If your product or service were good enough, If your value proposition was good enough, If your sales and marketing efforts were good
enough, enough people would buy from you.
Going
forward - good is no longer good enough.
To succeed, your business must: Have a clear, succinct and powerful value
proposition. Radically differentiate
itself from its competition - your objective must be to create a market of one. Have an effective and repeatable sales and
marketing process, that is utilized
by all people on your staff. Develop and implement a coordinated, integrated
and targeted lead generation and cultivation program. Transform their salespeople into businesspeople
who sell.
A golfer
carries 14 clubs for tournament play; and just as a golfer must master all 14
clubs your business must master and excel at all aspects of its sales and
marketing process. So I have a
