Visions

Visions: A Success Story
Are you feeling overwhelmed or confused about what to do next? No time for yourself, let alone take a course and then have to implement the learning. You and Paul have a lot in common, here is how Paul used his vision to get unstuck and playing a new game.

When Paul Zonneveld from Lawn Cutting Plus came to the coaching relationship with me he said he wanted to:

  • Grow the revenue in his business.
  • Have well defined procedures and processes.
  • Explore franchising his business.

In one year of executive coaching sessions, Paul has accomplished 2 out of 3 of the above objectives and is working towards the third. What Paul discovered through creating a vision has expanded his definition of success far beyond the scope of his original objectives.

As Paul grew the company from a one man operation to 10 employees over the last 15 years, everything seemed to become more complicated. Doubting himself, he often defaulted to "Aha I am making a living it doesn't matter if I don't do..." He found the volume of work and decisions to be made overwhelming and he knew he needed help.

Together we worked on a vision for Paul. What did he want his life to look like twenty years from now? When he looks back over his life what is he proud of? The vision sparked Paul's passion for what is really important to him. He realized how happy his children and wife make him feel and how important the rest of his family is to him. His business is about cutting lawns, his passion is supporting his people to grow and develop. Getting in touch with his love of golf inspired Paul to make time for himself.

Coaching Paul to live his vision, eliminated the doubt that kept him feeling stuck and allowed him to ask for help. Paul now bounces out of bed at 5:30am, excited about what the day will bring. He ensures the daily schedule is complete and the guys have the tools they need to do their job. Then it is Paul's time, and off to the gym he heads. Returning from the gym energized and focused he works on improving the systems and processes which will support the business to grow to the next level.

The vision and coaching changed his relationship with his family. A rejuvenated Paul allocates quality time to his wife and children doing what they love. Gone are the days when he was too tired or too busy to spend time with them. All that exercise has resulted in Paul being 35 lbs leaner and fitter. He can be spotted on the tennis courts or golf course joking around with his brothers. Value, priceless!

All of Paul's new found energy is producing results in the business too. Revenue is up 25% over last year and with increased efficiencies expenses have only risen by 5%. His business ROI on the coaching investment is over 600%.

Paul is no longer waiting to be happy for when he earns X dollars, he has realized that it is the journey which makes him happy. And like his golf score, the money, is the result of enjoying the game and making a lot of good strokes along the way.

Happy Golfing!
