MCCPTA News and Updates                                              September 16, 2012

Thank you and your PTAs for your attention to the new financial training requirement; over 150 PTA officers-treasurers and board members-participated in the financial training sessions offered at last Saturday's MCCPTA Fall Training!

Working with Maryland PTA, we have arranged another opportunity to meet this requirement.  Maryland PTA will be coming to Rockville to deliver an evening of financial training on Thursday, October 11, 6:30-9:30 PM at the Carver Education Services Center, 850 Hungerford Drive, in Rockville.  There is no cost for this training.  You can register here: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090544A4AA2FA20-maryland

BACKGROUND:  For those wondering what this is all about: A bylaws amendment was passed at the Maryland PTA Convention in July that requires every local PTA/PTSA and council to have its treasurer and one other Board member attend financial training within 180 days of taking office. Board members and treasurers who attended a financial training session last Saturday, a session at our MCCPTA Spring Training in June, or drove up to Glen Burnie in August for training have met this requirement.

Your MCCPTA leadership is working to help you meet this requirement.  You also can check the Maryland PTA website at www.mdpta.org under "Training" to see sessions being offered in neighboring (and far away) counties.  Those sessions count towards the requirement as well...just be ABSOLUTELY sure to sign in!

Need MORE Membership Cards?
(We love hearing that!)
An invoice from Maryland PTA was sent to your PTA at your school address two weeks ago; that invoice essentially is a bill for the total number of cards you were sent.  (Your PTA/PTSA received the same number of cards as you had members last year, rounded up to a full sheet of cards; there are four cards to a sheet this year.)  Once you have paid Maryland PTA for 75% of the cards you were issued (at $3.75 per card to cover Maryland PTA and National PTA dues) they will issue additional cards.  Those can be requested  via the invoice OR contact the Maryland PTA office; you can find their contact information at www.mdpta.org.

Please also get in the habit of paying Maryland PTA and MCCPTA dues at the same time; MCCPTA dues are still just $1 per member. The  MCCPTA invoice is available on our website (we do not mail it to you.)
