November Delegates Assembly
Tuesday, November 22, 7:30pm, Carver Auditorium Join us beforehand at 6:30pm for a conversation with Superintendent Dr. Joshua Starr. Important Info on Delegate Cards Per our newly adopted Standing Rules:
In order to receive your delegate cards, each local PTA must first: 1. Submit the names of delegates to the MCCPTA office. 2. Pay some portion of dues ($1/member) to MCCPTA. 3. Each delegate must present a valid local PTA membership card.
Unlike in previous years when delegate cards were "ponied" to schools, delegate cards will be now be distributed directly to delegates starting at the November Delegates Assembly. In order to receive your Delegate Card, you will need to present your local PTA membership card.
Each Delegate will pick up their own card, and may not pick up the additional cards for their PTA. This way we can make sure everyone receives his or her card. Make sure to pick up your card prior to the meeting as you will need your delegate card to vote. If you are unable to make the November meeting, your card will be available at future meetings.
Remember to bring a valid local PTA membership card! |
MCCPTA Legislative Platform The MCCPTA Board of Directors approved a draft Legislative Platform to present at our November Delegates Assembly. As a chartered organization under Maryland PTA/National PTA, we support the respective platforms of these organizations. Our own proposed platform goes a bit farther, specifically addressing:
- Maintenance of Effort
- State Capital Improvement Funding
- Funding Responsibility for Teacher Retirement
- Curriculum Authority
To review the proposed platform, click here now or visit our website link where the proposed platform will be posted in the next few days.
Delegates - The intent is to present this proposed platform at the November 22 Delegates Assembly and vote on it at the January 24 Delegates Assembly. (There is no Delegates Assembly in December.) There is a chance that due to the Maryland General Assembly 90-day session opening on January 11, a PTA delegate may request this platform be considered on an emergency basis at the November meeting. Just a head's up to you...it's the decision of the body whether to consider the proposed platform immediately or in January.

Proposed Resolution on Honors Courses in Middle Schools Also on the agenda for the November Delegates Assembly is the Proposed Resolution on Honors Courses in Middle Schools. Questions or feedback on this resolution can be directed to Curriculum Committee Co-Chairs, Ted Willard and Amanda Graver.
