GETTING A TAX REFUND?

How should you allocate your Tax Refund?

So you get the word that you are going to be receiving a tax refund this year.  You should go ahead and plan for what you would like to do with that refund.  Here are some ideas we recommend doing with your refund that don't involve going out and blowing it.

1)  Pay off as much debt as you can.
2) Put money into savings account for emergency fund.
3) Fund your retirement account.
4) Start a new business.
5) Funding kids college tuition.

Obviously the things listed above can be taken care of in different ways depending on your refund and where you are at currently with each area.  We would suggest using your refund towards the above goals and also budgeting your finances to try and definitely take care of #1 and #2.  Those two areas are very important and should be taken care of first if you want to have financial freedom and even want to look at the other suggestions. Also, you might consider getting with a CPA to do a little tax planning to help minimize refunds. By doing this you get your money throughout the year to help you towards the above goals.  If you have any questions in regards to budgeting, how to tackle #1 and #2, or just advice on which area you should focus on please contact us.
SERVICES TO HELP YOUR BUSINESS

We run across a lot of different business product and services, some are helpful and some are a waste of money.  Below are a few services that we find to be very helpful and cost effective.

1)  Evernote - Tired of sticky notes or trying to remember everything?  Evernote is a product to help you with both problems.  You can save ideas, things you like, things you hear, etc.  Another good feature is it is accessible anywhere.  Information you save is searchable with tags.

2)  Carbonite - We all have zip drives and external hard drives, but what happens when those physical products wear out, get lost or stolen?  Carbonite is an online backup service.  It is very secure, inexpensive for the amount of storage, and very accessible.

3)  Ring Central - This service has a very affordable internet fax service.  You don't have to buy a fax machine or have a fax line.  This service allows you to fax via email, mobile device, and computer.  If you can hit print then you can fax or print fax.  They have different packages based on the number of faxes you receive a month etc.

We will keep you posted from time to time on business services & products that we find very helpful and cost effective.
