ASBP and American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) release joint statement today applauding the FDA's approval of Qsymia (aka Qnexa)

ASBP is pleased to announce to you that earlier today the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) approved Qsymia (also known as Qnexa prior to its approval). This marks the second time this year that the agency has approved a new obesity treatment drug--not one that just helps weight loss. Read the joint ASBP-ASMBS news release as well as the FDA's official press announcement.

Affordable video production and marketing toolkit package available to members attending ASBP symposium in Orlando

ASBP members often ask for advice about how to market their obesity medicine practices to patients. In response, ASBP is now offering members an affordable solution with a video production and marketing toolkit package. The society negotiated this production package with aKvideo, Inc., (Castle Rock, Colo.) at a cost of $800 per video package, which includes a sample script outline/questions, tips for marketing online, filming, editing and both a DVD and web-ready version of the final video. Watch a sample video from aKvideo, which was filmed for ASBP member Dr. Jeffry N. Gerber. Recording of all videos will take place during the ASBP 62nd Annual Obesity & Associated Conditions Symposium in Orlando. If you are interested in learning more about the services, please click here.

Do you have obesity medicine research or clinical data to share with other bariatricians? Consider submitting an abstract

ASBP invites members to submit an abstract for oral and poster presentations at the 62nd Annual Obesity & Associated Conditions Symposium in Orlando, Fla., on Oct. 24-28. Learn more about the call for abstracts and abstract submission guidelines or download an abstract submission form online. Click here to review submission deadlines. Also, travel award applications are available to physician-in-training and student members interested in presenting.

The American Society of Bariatric Physicians (ASBP) is a medical professional association for physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants who are focused on the treatment and management of overweight and obese patients and their related conditions and co-morbidities. ASBP is the primary source for clinical education and training for the medical management of obesity.
