John Muir Highway Geotourism
Be Young John Muir
August 16, 2012
Greetings,
Are you interested in learning about how the John Muir Geotourism Center's motto of "A Rural Model for a Better World" is going global from its humble John Muir Highway beginnings in Mariposa County while honoring the legacy of John Muir? You can find out on August 19th, when Maryann Huff and Helen Bauman speak at the Mariposa Mining and History Museum, about "Muir and Geotourism."

Plans for the upcoming year are being developed now by the JMGC and it looks like a much expanded program will be implemented and aligned with their not-for-profit mission - " The mission of the John Muir Geotourism Center is to enrich the natural and rural communities by inspiring people to explore, learn, share and preserve the values of the John Muir Legacy."

Updates and news about geotourism themes will be presented on the "ToMarket Geotourism Journeys" web site for tourism planners and geotourism vacationers

Please share the newsletter with your friends and keep watching for the featured news and information about supporters of the John Muir Highway Geotourism project.

There is unique value for travelers to be gained from a geotourism approach to their vacation planning on their route to Yosemite National Park.  The National Geographic Magazine definition of "geotourism" is important to remember as the summary of the insights and adventure mission - "tourism that sustains or enhances the geographical character of a place-its environment, culture, aesthetics, heritage, and the well-being of its residents."

Looking forward to seeing you at the John Muir Geotourism Center's next "All Things Muir" festival in 2013, as well as on the NMCHC Muir Historic Route docent bus tours going on throughout the summer of 2012 in Coulterville, CA!
