Be Young John Muir
June 1, 2011
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Greetings,
What will visitors see on the Nature Tour walk at the Bean Creek Preserve dedication ceremony on June 4th? A bit of history, immersion in a precious sub-alpine ecosystem and the sense of rubbing shoulders with John Muir when he rambled through Greeley Hill in 1868.  One of the historical gems to be uncovered is the presence of a Native American "mortar rock" with numerous mortar holes used for grinding the local black oak acorns, well before John Muir arrived. If you haven't registered yet, there is still time!
