Be Young John Muir
April 20, 2011
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Greetings,
REMINDER: Applications for the John Muir Highway Docent Tour Guide Positions  (6) must be in to the Northern Mariposa County History Center by April 21st. If you -- or a friend you know --wish to be considered for a role in bringing "Young John Muir" to life for geotourism visitors on their way to Yosemite, follow the links to learn about this opportunity.  Selected Docent candidates will soon have a chance to lead tours to the same locations described by Muir in his journal, My First Summer in the Sierra.
Also, put it on your calendar to visit during this year's annual John Muir Celebration on June 4th, and enjoy the festivities in Lake Don Pedro, Coulterville, Greeley Hill, Groveland and Smith Station. Information about Docent tours ( Bower Cave ), biking tours, nature walks and family friendly festivities can be found at the links below.
Also, check out news about the John Muir Highway Geotourism Project at www.JohnMuirHighway.net and be sure to watch the PBS documentary -- John Muir in the New World -- as soon as you can, it's a great story for everyone to know about!
