Alan Goggins PhD Candidate
|
Get To Know... Alan Goggins
Alan was born in North Carolina but moved 17 times before he finished middle school! Before starting at Tulane he graduated from Western Carolina University with a degree in Environmental Public Health. As an undergraduate student Alan participated in La Crosse Virus transmission and vector ecology research with SPHTM Alum Dr. Brian Byrd. This experience sparked both his interest in graduate school and in Tulane. Alan has been married 5 years this August to Bessie, a 3rd grade teacher at Arise Academy in the Upper 9th Ward. In his spare time he enjoys working out, traveling, exploring new cuisines and listening to great music. Alan joined Dr. Kumar's Lab in Spring 2011 and after graduating, would like to pursue a post-doctoral position in a public health institute like the CDC. Long term, you'll find him in an academic institution that allows a balance between research, and teaching the next generation of public health students.
