Greetings!

You are receiving this e-mail newsletter as a GeoMAPP informational partner or full partner. Visit the GeoMAPP website for all of the latest information on the GeoMAPP program.

GeoMAPP is participating in several conferences during the month of July. We hope to see you at one of these events as we promote geospatial preservation! You'll find more information and links below.

We've also released the Geospatial Data File Formats Reference Guide, a new tool describing several raster and vector geospatial data file formats, plus some related standards that GIS professionals and geospatial archivists might encounter.

Also, mark your calendars for July 28, when we are planning our next GeoMAPP Informational Partners session, where we will discuss archival appraisal for geospatial datasets. Look in your email inboxes for a brief survey from the GeoMAPP team to provide us with some feedback in preparation for that meeting.

Topic: Geospatial Data Archival Appraisal

When: Thurs 7/28/2011, 3:00-4:30 EDT

The GeoMAPP team is planning our next Informational Partners meeting for Thursday, July 28 from 3:00-4:30 pm EDT, and we will be discussing appraisal of GIS data for archiving.

Based on feedback from our recent survey, many of you indicated the value in soliciting input and feedback to invite conversations on the topics discussed in our Informational Partners meetings. Therefore, in preparation for our next meeting, we'd appreciate your input through a brief 10 question survey to better understand what areas of the GIS achival appraisal process most interest you, and to offer some topics for you consider and reflect upon prior to our meeting.
