Gum disease linked to Alzheimers
Dental researchers at NYU have found the first long-term evidence that periodontal disease may increase the symptoms of Alzheimers Disease in both healthy individuals and those people that are already impaired. The evidence suggests that gum inflammation can lead to brain inflammation and degeneration of nerve pathways in the brain that may lead to Alzheimers. We already know that gum inflammation may increase the risk for heart disease and stroke. Think about it, brushing and flossing, combined with regular visits to your dentist may significantly reduce the chances of these serious health problems. |

Mercury Filling Safety
Unbelievably, the American Dental Association recently reaffirmed it's position that dental fillings containing the toxin mercury are actually safe enough to place in your mouth as well as the mouths of children, pregnant and nursing mothers. This is so alarming to me, I'm at a loss for words. As most of you ( hopefully all of you) know I have been a vocal opponent and activist against the use of mercury in dentistry for over thirty years. As a result I have been professionally criticzed, threatened and penalized for my views on this subject, but I've never let any intimidation alter my opinion or practice.
