Good Gravy!
There's nothing like positive customer feedback.
As one customer recently put it: "I have never tasted such authentic gravy in my life!! I had to control myself from eating it right out of the pan with a ladle!!"
Just two months ago, in time for the holiday season, Willow Tree introduced its brand new turkey and chicken gravies. Since then, it's been rocketing out of supermarkets like, um, rockets, to grace birds both large and small. (Thousands of gallons, in fact!) Thanks to all our customers, who obviously know a great product when they taste one!

Chicken Pic! Interview with a Frizzle
Frizzle: Call ME a "Frizzle," willya!? Why, I oughta...
Chicken Wire!: But you ARE a Frizzle, a chicken whose feathers curl outward rather than lie flat. Frankly, it's a nice look...
Frizzle: Well, I guess some of us are just lucky enough to be born this way.

  A message from Wally Cekala
Here at Willow Tree, we're kicking off 2012 in style by profiling the latest Biggest Winner in our How Do You Willow Tree? contest. In this issue, meet eighty-six years young Josephine Moretti. Also this month, "What's in Store" has a decidedly Big Game feel (we'd mention something about "super" and "bowl," but the NFL has lots of lawyers). We've got stats and pictures to show you from the first ever Willow Tree Family Turkey Trot. We've got news about our chicken pies and their big move to the Big Apple. And finally, you owe it to yourself to check out our Chicken Scratch blog. We'll hook you up by directing you to our latest entry.
As always, if you have any suggestions for future issues, feel free to contact me. Remember to "like" us on Facebook and keep entering HDYWT? early and often. Just click here.
Happy New Year, everyone!

Congratulations, Josephine Moretti! Our latest HDYWT? Biggest Winner!
Josephine Moretti calls herself a "young" 86-year-old. With a mobile phone, a web-surfing habit and an all-time-great "gypsyjoie" email address, we'd say she definitely qualifies. Fortunately for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, she also qualifies as our latest Biggest Winner. Thanks to Josephine, the Foundation - Josephine's favorite charity - is today the grateful recipient of $1000.
Josephine has been a fan of Willow Tree for 30 years. She and her husband - who celebrated their 50th anniversary this year - like to get in the car and take a trip to the Willow Tree store in Attleboro to buy their chicken salad and chicken pies right from the source.
"We go all the time," says Josephine. "We've tried all the others, but Willow Tree is the one we like the best. I keep the chicken salad simple and just put it on a toasted Panini or pita bread. I don't add too much to it. It's good just the way it is."
She recently signed up through Willow Tree's web site to receive the company's monthly e-newsletter where she saw an announcement for the contest and decided to enter. Josephine's name was selected from hundreds of entries to the company's How Do You Willow Tree? online charitable promotion.
"I never thought I'd win, but I'm sure glad I did," she said. "I have been supporting the Make-A-Wish Foundation for years so I am thrilled to be able to make a $1000 contribution this year through Willow Tree."
(As a Biggest Winner, Josephine also gets a prize for herself: She's chosen a winter's supply of Willow Tree Chicken Pie.)
Says Wally Cekala, Willow Tree's President, "We're happy to be able to add Josephine to our growing list of winners. It's great to meet someone who's been such a loyal fan of our products for so many years. We'll be on the lookout for her at the Attleboro store from now on."
To win a big prize for yourself as well as for your favorite charity, enter the How Do You Willow Tree? contest now. |
Huzzahs to our November and December HDYWT? Winners!
Our November Winner: Marjorie O. does it like this: "On artisan bread with a touch of chipotle mayo and sliced dill pickles!"
That sounds delicious! Congratulations, Marjorie, and good luck to your favorite charity, Save A Dog!
Our December Winner: Debbie W. does it like this: "I love Willow Tree chicken salad in many ways, but sometimes the best is the easiest--2 scoops of chicken salad on a bed of lettuce. Add a side of chips and a pickle and it does not get any better!!!"
Debbie's favorite charity is the American Heart Association. Good luck!

 What's in Store?
The countdown to XLVI (that's "46" to all of you non-Romans) has begun. That's when two teams of freakishly large men meet on an Indianapolis gridiron for global football supremacy and the rest of us sit in front of our big-screens cheering, booing - and chowing down. And that's where Willow Tree's retail store has got you covered like a shutdown corner.
"Fans need to know that we're not only their salad headquarters," says store manager Rebecca Lyons, "but we're also a Boars' Head company. That means our game-day platters will be the best, freshest and most delicious you can get."
There's still plenty of time to order your Biggest Game Ever platter, but don't wait. Reserve yours now by calling Rebecca at 508-222-2479. Before you know it, the rush will be on. And we strongly discourage the tackling of other customers.

Willow Tree Turkey Trot: The results are in!
The Giblets.
Team Turkey Neck.
Turkey Show.
Turkey Basters.
Will Run 4Turkey.
Cluck. Cluck. Boom.
These were just some of the thematically correct teams that competed in the first annual Willow Tree Turkey Trot, held on Thanksgiving morning, partial proceeds from which went to the Rhode Island Food Bank. All told, 1096 runners, walkers and gobblers(?) completed the 5K course through downtown Providence following a spirited Kids' 1K run. Congratulations to Chris Magill of Cumberland, who won the Trot in a blistering 15:42, and Mariko Holbrook, the women's winner - and 12th overall - who finished in 17:52. See photos from the Turkey Trot here.
