Message from Pastor Pete
When I woke up this morning one of the first things that I was make a 'to-do' list. I have a lot of things to get done today (including writing a newsletter article!!) and I want to be able to plan my time well enough to get it all done. If I don't carefully lay things out, I find that I can't get done what I want to get done. I like to plan ahead!
I do the same with my finances. I'm a guy who likes to budget. That way I spend money on things that I WANT to spend money on. Without some sort of budget, money just seems to trickle away and I get frustrated that I can't do what I want to do!
This coming Sunday I have the opportunity to make a plan for 2012. This week Peace will be mailing pledge forms for 2012. I know exactly what I WANT to give to Peace in 2012, so pledging allows me to plan ahead. I will set it up with an automatic transfer and everything will be taken care of. If I leave my giving to Peace to the end to 'see what I have left,' I know that I won't have anything left!
Pledging is not something that I do out of obligation. I do it because it helps me to give money to a place where important ministry happens.
I invite you to be a part of this pledging this Sunday! If we have a record of giving from 2011 you will receive a mailing this week. If not, you can pick up a form next Sunday.
Just think about what God has done...is doing...and will do here at Peace!!! I invite you to be a part of this generous undertaking. |

Pastor Pete Away
Pastor Pete is at a retreat with Bishop Usgaard through Friday. |
Christmas Shopping Day
On Saturday, December 3rd Peace will be doing some bell ringing for the Salvation Army. We will also offer some 'day care' at the church building for parents who'd like a quiet time to shop! Details will be coming soon. Let Pastor Pete know if you'd like to help out! |
Families Growing in Faith
On Sunday, December 11th Peace will have a shortened worship service to allow some important time for us to sit and talk about how we help people grow in faith. Karen Gieseke of the synod office will come and lead us in this significant conversation. Everything is on the table for conversation: Sunday School, youth ministry, adult education. It's time to discern how God calls us to help ALL people grow in faith. Please plan to be a part of the conversation. 'Family' can be defined in many ways...and includes single people and empty nesters! |
Sunday School Christmas Program
If you'd like your child to be a part of the Sunday School Christmas Program on December 18th, please contact Jessica Schreier (lonaschreier@hotmail.com). Practices for the Christmas Program are after worship. |
Peace's Annual Ice Fishing Weekend (at Pastor Pete's cabin) will be on January 20-22. Mark your calendars now! |
God With Us
"Fear not, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed. I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will uphold you with my victorious right hand." (God's comforting and uplifting words from Isaiah 41 v 10.) |
