Message from Pastor Pete
In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, on the seventeenth day of the second month-on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened. And rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights. (Genesis 7:11-12)
It feels like the time of Noah. Day after day the rains come. Mud oozes on construction sites. Last week we had a cement pumper truck get stuck in the mud on our church property. It's been a frustrating spring. We thought that the Mission Builders would be getting the walls up on our new church building by mid-to-late May.
I am THRILLED to report that at long last, the Mission Builders are underway! As I drove by the site on Tuesday afternoon I saw walls under construction. FINALLY! Not all of the Mission Builders are here at this point. They will be moving their trailers onto our church property, and right now it's still too wet to get the ground prepared for those trailers.
But...building is underway! The time to volunteer has arrived! If you have carpentry skills...we can use you. If you've never hammered a nail in your life...we can use you! There are all sorts of things to be done on a job site. The Mission Builders are ready to get you on board with the project.
Construction will happen Tuesdays through Saturdays from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. Devotions begin at 7:00. Feel free to stop out anytime to help!
I'm keeping my eye out for an ark...but until we see one, we'll just keep building! We'd love to have you!
Watch for an annoucement next week...the walls will be constructed on the ground, and once they are ready we'll invite everyone to come for a night of wall raising!!

July 3rd Joint Service
On July 3rd, Peace will have our annual 4th of July joint service with St. Paul United Church of Christ. We will not worship at the gym...we will head to St. Paul for an outdoor service at 10:00. Feel free to bring a lawn chair...and stay for the picnic afterwards!

Preparing to Move
As we prepare to move into a building, there are some policies that will need to get put in place (i.e. building use policies, wedding policies, etc.). Let a church council member (or Pastor Pete) know if you'd like to serve on a team that helps develop these. We'll borrow heavily from other congregations that have these in place, so we won't be reinventing the wheel! |

Weekly Campfires
Peace is again planning to have a Wednesday night get together. This year, instead of the park, we plan to meet around a camp fire on our land (or at the church office if it rains). We will begin at 6:00 pm for a light potluck. Peace will provide hotdogs, buns, ketchup and mustard. Bring a dish to pass, drinks and your lawn chair. Invite your neighbors and friends. Sit back and fellowship with your friends. Get to know the Mission Builders. Perhaps a guitar will show up and we can sing a few songs. There will be a short prayer time. We are looking forward to seeing you there! |
Construction Schedule
It's time to start building walls! Who wants to swing a hammer???
If you plan to help at all this summer, Chad Nelson is coordinating volunteers. Let him (or the church office) know it you'd like to help build our new building! You don't have to have any special skills...all are invited! |
