There's a garden on the outskirts of Sharon,
On land that at one time was barren.
It's owned by a business
Blue and I have born witness
To this garden of good intentions.
Someone had an idea they wanted to try,
To allow employees to have some fun on the side.
They plotted a plot
And got this big lot
For their garden of good intentions.
Enthusiasm ran fast through the ranks.
To their bosses the employees paid many thanks.
They drew up a plan
And every woman and man
Pictured their garden of good intentions.
They turned up the soil with the warmth of the spring,
They sectioned it off with stakes and with string,
Ready it was
For vegetables plus
This garden of good intentions.
And then...
Just three of twenty sections were planted.
So quickly most from their big plans relented.
I hate to be curt
But they ignored their dirt
In their garden of good intentions.
No water, no care brought bramble and weeds.
It was dry it was clumpy and choked off their seeds.
They dreamt of an Eden
But it got no weedin'
This garden of good intentions
If you say you're gonna do it, then do it.
If you say you're not, then eschew it.
Promises and plans
Have boatloads of fans
But most of them have only intentions.
Initiatives come and initiatives went,
Emotional capital gets spent and gets spent,
They won't even hear you
Cause your credibility's zero
When your garden has only intentions.
