I will depart from my usual form this week to tell you that the twenty-five year old man (Sean McInerney) lost in Seattle two weeks ago has been found healthy and well!
I'll explain the details in a moment, but I want to first thank all of you for allowing me to spread the information to you and through you last week. Sean's uncle, Bruce Weinberg (the best man at my brother's wedding many years ago), told me that we "helped kickoff the firestorm of assistance" that ultimately led to his discovery.
I take my mailing list very seriously and am committed to using it in only the most professional of ways. This was a departure. Thank you all for your flexibility, patience with my method, and help.
So many of you wrote to me, Bruce or directly to friends and associates you have in Seattle. Some of you sent ideas to me that I passed along to Bruce. Many of you prayed. You are kind, kind people.
Here's the story:
Sean, a CPA, had moved from Florida to Seattle three weeks ago to look for work. Shortly thereafter, his backpack was stolen and, in it, his cell phone and wallet. With his wallet gone, so were most of his resources.
Sean was too embarrassed to call home and tell his parents what happened. To cut down on expenses, he checked into a homeless shelter. He stayed there and went out each day to look for work.
His parents grew alarmed when they did not hear from him. At one point the police found his stolen wallet. Since Sean had not reported the robbery, foul play was immediately suspected. They, of course, feared the worst.
For ten days this went on. Sean had no idea anyone was looking for him...until last Friday when he discovered a news story that said he was the subject of a city-wide search. At that point he contacted police and was reunited with his very happy and relieved family.
And so the saga ends.
I'll let Bruce have the final word. This from an email he sent out after Sean was found:
All,
Sean was found today, alive and well. The details are in the news story link below. We cannot thank you enough for all you did to assist us and support us through this. The investment of your time, creativity and emotions for someone who for many of you is a total stranger goes beyond words. It goes without saying, if we can ever be of any assistance and repay the favor in any way we are here for you and your family.
