Participants will visit the Springfield campus for one week-long class each semester-Fall, Spring and Summer. "This format will make training more accessible to busy pastors and lay leaders in full-time jobs," said AGTS Continuing Education director Dr. Randy Walls. "The cohort model will allow students to progress through the program with the same group of peers, providing a strongly relational learning environment that will build networks to last a lifetime."

"The pastoral leadership cohort offers courses specifically designed to impact the participant's current ministry contexts," said Walls. "Instructors bring long term ministry experience and the best of theory and practice into a biblically informed and culturally relevant application process. It will be a transformational learning experience that will enhance the lives and ministries of each participant."

Regarding the professional coaching cohort, Walls says "Participants will study with some of the finest Christian coaches in the world. Member of this coaching cohort will become part of a community of Christian coaches committed to using coaching in the ministries of the church as well as in the marketplace mission field."

Dr. Deborah Gill, professor in the coaching cohort, explains that coaching is a skill set that can be used both in the ministry and in marketplace settings. "Coaches help leaders make meaningful change, develop new management styles, make wise decisions and become more influential," said Gill. "Coaching is also a powerful discipleship tool. Professional and Spirit-directed coaching helps people reach new heights in regard to their personal goals, taking them to where God wants them to be."

Upon graduation from AGTS, a coaching cohort student will fully qualify to submit a portfolio application for either Associate Certified Coach or Professional Certified Coach credentialed with the International Coach Federation (depending upon the number of client coaching hours the student chooses to log).
