Contributors to the book Forgiveness, Reconciliation, and Restoration: Multidisciplinary Studies from a Pentecostal Perspective will speak at the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (AGTS) during two chapel services Monday, November 7 at 11 a.m. and Tuesday, November 8 at 2 p.m. A corresponding presentation by Patrick Mureithi entitled "Redemption and the Rwandan Genocide" and a showing of his film ICYIZERE will take place Monday, November 7 from 7-9 p.m. at Evangel University (EU, Zimmerman Building, Room 105). The public is invited to attend.
The book Forgiveness, Reconciliation, and Restoration: Multidisciplinary Studies from a Pentecostal Perspective was edited by Dr. Geoff Sutton and Dr. Marty Mittelstadt and is part of the Pentecostals, Peacemaking, and Social Justice Series.
| Dr. Bob Berg, is professor of New Testament and director of LifeWorks: The Center for Leadership & Life Calling, which supports the integration of faith and life at EU. He has recently created and is now introducing a series of interdisciplinary courses required of all Evangel students. | | | | Dr. Marty Mittelstadt, associate professor of New Testament at EU, specializes in the convergence of Lukan studies and Pentecostal theology. His publications include Spirit and Suffering in Luke-Acts and Reading Luke-Acts in the Pentecostal Tradition (recipient of the Book of the Year Award from the Foundation for Pentecostal Scholarship). He is currently coediting a monograph on the theology of Amos Yong. | | | | Dr. Johan Mostert, professor of community psychology at AGTS, is a South African national who has been involved in HIV/AIDS prevention and community development research and practice for more than three decades. His book How to Become HIV+: Guidelines for the Local Church was published earlier this year. He also teaches on issues of social justice and relief and development at AGTS. | | | | Patrick Mureithi is a Kenyan documentary filmmaker residing in Springfield, Mo. His self-described mission is "to produce films that inspire hope and encourage dialogue." | | | | Dr. Lois E. Olena is visiting professor of practical theology and Jewish studies at AGTS. She also serves as the project coordinator for AGTS's Doctor of Ministry Program, editor of Encounter: Journal for Pentecostal Ministry and is the executive director for the Society for Pentecostal Studies. She has published works in the area of Holocaust curricula and poetry and authored the official biography of Dr. Stanley M. Horton, Stanley M. Horton: Shaper of Pentecostal Theology. | | | | Dr. Geoffrey W. Sutton, professor of psychology at EU, is a consulting psychologist, lecturer and author. He contributes articles on faith and psychology for various journals, and serves as a director on the International Board of the Christian Association for Psychological Studies. |
