Map of Northern Africa and the Middle East

Springfield, Mo.--October 11, 2011--

On Friday, October 21 from 3-4:30 p.m., the Center for Islamic Studies at AGTS will host a panel discussion with international students from Missouri State University entitled "The Arab Spring: An Insider's Perspective." Students from Tunisia, Morocco and Saudi Arabia will offer their reflections on this surprising set of events that has politically rearranged the fabric of the Middle East and North Africa.

"The opportunity to hear about this series of recent events through the eyes of those whose futures and careers will be impacted," said AGTS president Byron D. Klaus, "will serve to enrich our understanding, critique our assumptions and generally provide greater appreciation for the those who are presently experiencing significant and sometimes painful change."

The discussion will be lead by Dr. Mark Hausfeld, director of the Center for Islamic Studies at AGTS and associate professor of Islamic Studies. The discussion will take place in room 116. Refreshments will be served.
