AGTS Responds to Joplin Devastation

On May 22 an F5 tornado cut a six mile path through the center of Joplin, MO.  Rescue efforts began immediately and AGTS provided help in several ways.  VA representative and student Andrew Haire, along with student Derek Henson assisted in search and rescue efforts.  Faculty and staff contributed cases of water and donations to Convoy of Hope.  Dan Shaffer ('99), Human Resources
coordinator explained, "...with Convoy of Hope's buying power, and the cases we took to OTC, AGTS supplied over 200 cases of water for the Joplin crisis."  Dr. Angela Reid ('00) and Dr. Johan Mostert coordinated the efforts of counseling students and alumni as they provided a therapeutic presence for victims and workers alike in the wake of the devastating event.

Consolidation Update

Message from the President

Dr. KlausThe AG General Superintendent's Office has released the following information regarding the decision this past week by the respective boards of Central Bible College, Evangel University and the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary. As this release indicates, all three boards approved the recommendations of the Consolidation Task Force, as has the Executive Presbytery. This now paves the way for the consideration of this Consolidation initiative by the General Council this coming August in Phoenix. Our regional accreditation agency, the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association will need to evaluate the plan and processes associated with the consolidation. AGTS must also address the process associated with our national accreditors, the Association of Theological Schools (ATS). I do believe that the decision of the three boards of directors this past week gives clear affirmation of the wisdom of this plan for consolidation for the future effectiveness of AGTS as part of a consolidated university structure.

Byron D. Klaus, President
