Hello! Alumni and Friends, |
Here's what's happening at Jones!
The wisteria draped across the arbors on campus as it began blooming a little early this spring.
It was "College Week" for students preparing to transfer. Area universities spent the day with JCJC students ensuring a smooth transition. Rease Patrick received info about MSU.

JCJC Baseball players, Jonathan Glaze, Chad Guice and Tyler Fall took time to hang out with Tanner and Hunter Boleware who threw out the first pitch at the Baseball Reunion, with retired coach Bobby Glaze and 1952 state champs team member, Bobby Barton.

Presidential Candidate Visits
|
Republican Presidential Candidate, Newt Gingrich's stop at Jones on March 9, translated to voter support for him during the state's primary election. The former Speaker of the House stayed in Ellisville meeting students and some of the 800 people who came out to hear his pitch for the highest office in the nation.
Four years ago, President Bill Clinton visited Jones rallying support for his wife, Hillary who was running for President on the Democrat ticket . Before that, the last President stopping in the area was President-elect William Howard Taft who made a whistle stop in Ellisville in 1909.

Raymond Horne |
The recent JCJC Centennial Celebrations have inspired one of JCJC's graduates from the 1940's, who wrote for the college newspaper, to do some research on Jones County Agricultural High School and JCJC's early years.
Raymond Horne, the Shady Grove resident has published his research in a book, "The Early Years: A History of the Jones County Agricultural High School and Junior College."
JCJC invited Horne to share some of his wisdom with the PTK honor society and the JCJC Historical Society recently. His trip down memory lane inspired students to get a signed copy of his book.

Bobcat 100
|
Just because you aren't on the JCJC campus every day doesn't mean you can't play an important role in the Centennial Celebration. Anyone can join the Centennial Celebration by becoming a "Bobcat 100" donor.
The "Bobcat 100" is an Alumni Centennial Campaign honoring our 100-year heritage while simultaneously providing resources that will allow us to enter our next century with confidence.
You are invited to join the growing group of individuals who have become part of the "Bobcat 100." All we ask for is a donation of $100 to commemorate Jones' rich history and give you an opportunity to continue inspiring greatness as we move into the next century.
Our goal is to present 100 Centennial Scholarships to deserving students for the 2012-13 school year.
Make checks payable to the JCJC Foundation "Bobcat 100" and mail to
900 South Court Street, Ellisville, MS 39437.
For more information call the JCJC Foundation Office at 601.477.4145.

Baseball Reunion |
The recent rainy weather put a little damper on scheduled activities for the Baseball Reunion. It also caused the cancellation of Friday night activities and the postponement of games until Sunday, late afternoon because of the soggy fields.
Despite the rain, the "party" continued for the group of alumni, as they swapped stories, fellow-shipped, and enjoyed the games at Community Bank Park.

Golf Tournament | The tradition of golfing, fun, food and fellowship continued last week at the 13th annual Alumni Association Golf Tournament at Dixie Golf Club. We'll have more on the winners and pictures in next month's newsletter, but here's a "picture tease" until then! Steven Todd won the chance to shoot for the Hole-in-One contest, sponsored by Magnolia Real Estate and Susan Barnett.
