Economic & Technology Symposium

  Join us on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at the Whitehead Advanced Technology Center as the JCJC Foundation hosts the Economic and Technology Symposium,

"Agri-Business in Mississippi." 

   Guest speakers include Mississippi State University president, Dr. Mark Keenum, talking about the role of MSU in agribusiness, followed by the President of the Mississippi Economic Council, Blake Wilson addressing the importance of Blue Print Mississippi and its mission, along with other speakers and topics. 

   Please make plans to join us for this free symposium, which includes lunch, by registering with the Foundation Office by calling 601-477-4145 or emailing: foundation@jcjc.edu.

Basketball Reunion

  The JCJC Alumni Association is inviting all former basketball players, men and women, to join us for a time of food and fellowship before the February 2, basketball game.  JCJC will be hosting Hinds CC on that Thursday at 6 and 8 p.m. 

  The tailgating-reunion will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the gameroom behind the gym.  Please RSVP by registering online here: Online Registration-Basketball Reunion; or fill out this form Registration Form and send it in.

Valentines Banquet

  The JCJC Alumni Office would like to invite you to a special Romantic Dinner on the evening of Valentine's Day at Jones.  This special evening is hosted by one of the many couples who fell in love on campus, JCJC President, Dr. Jesse and Jennifer Smith.         

   Please join us on Tuesday, February 14, at 6:30 p.m., at Jones Hall - Tullos Suite.  The cost for a couple is $75. Reservations are required to enjoy the five-course meal prepared by the JCJC Culinary Arts Department. (Click the link to see the menu: Menu - Valentine's Day Dinner

Perkins Picked

 ray perkins JCJC's new head football coach, Ray Perkins met with reporters and Bobcat fans at a press conference December 20.  The 70-year old former coach comes to Jones with a vast amount of experience coaching at the University and professional levels. 

  The retired Petal resident has been a volunteer coach with Presbyterian Christian School in Hattiesburg for the last couple of years.  Perkins coached for more than 20 years for teams like the University of Alabama, Mississippi State, Arkansas State University, the Oakland Raiders, Cleveland Browns, New England Patriots, Baltimore Colts, Dallas Cowboys, San Diego Chargers, Giants, and Buccaneers.

  The Mt. Olive native said he remembered watching former JCJC coach Sim Cooley's practice when he was playing football for Petal High School and he is looking forward to coaching at Jones.

Alumni Accomplishment-Marcus Boyles

  marcus boyles Congratulations!  to Raleigh native and JCJC graduate, Marcus Boyles on his new position.  He is leaving Wayne County High School to assume the head football coach and athletic director position at Petal High School.  Boyles was the head football coach and athletic director at Wayne County for 11 years, where his football team posted 127 wins and 21 losses.  

 The War Eagles, under Boyles' direction, won five region titles and five South State championships.  Even though he will be leaving the 5A division, his first match-up this fall on the field as a 6A division Petal Panther will be against his former War Eagles.

Alumni Accomplishment-Bradford Turner as "AnDerecco"

 Bradford Turner  AnDerecco  Congratulations!  to Wayne County native, Bradford Turner.  The 1996 Wayne County High School graduate has published a second book, "Love to Luv."  Turner is wBradford Turner-AnDerrecoorking under the pen name, AnDerecco and is currently living in Jackson, Miss.  

  After leaving JCJC in 1997, he continued his education at Alcorn State University, earning a B.S. degree in Business Administration.  Turner went on to earn his Master's degree in Special Education, from the University of West Alabama. 

    The first novel, "Where Can I Run To?" was published in 2011 but was first written in 1999 while Turner was in college.  The former banker turned educator-author said his new book continues the story line. 

  You can meet the author as he begins his 15-city book tour, in his hometown of Waynesboro. Turner will sign books on March 13, at the Waynesboro-Wayne County Library from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., and on April 14, at Books and Beignets, in Northpark Mall in Jackson, MS.   A book signing is scheduled in Hattiesburg at Main Street Books, but a date has not been set.  Turner will be on WDAM-TV's "Midday", on March 7, with that information.

Alumni Accomplishment-Crissy Lintner

 Crissy Lintner Congratulations!  are in order for Crissy Smith Lintner of Memphis, TN, as she plans to move to Dallas, TX, to head up the expansion of the public relations firm, Obsidian. Lintner will oversee operations at the Dallas office, as the Managing Director. 

   She will lead business development, client strategy and management of the agency's Dallas-based team. The 2000 JCJC grad joined Obsidian as an account executive in 2008 and was promoted in 2010 to Director of Client Services.

  The Laurel, Miss., native married 1999 JCJC grad, John Lintner, and they have a seven-month old son, Max.  Both JCJC grads also own, Rockin' Running Tours, a running historical tour-business in Memphis and have plans to move that unique business to the Dallas area.

Alumni Accomplishment-Stephanie Sanford, CPhT

  Stephanie SanfordCongratulations!  to JCJC Pharmacy Technician instructor, Stephanie Sanford CPhT.   Stephanie was a member of the first graduating class of Pharmacy Technicians at JCJC in 2000. She was recently spotlighted in her professional newsletter.

  Stephanie is the Clinical Coordinator, teaching students some of the basic skills needed in the pharmacy and computer applications to be proficient in the workplace.

                  in 1983 when the college registered students "online" for the first time? Actually, the term online was defined as registering students by using computers.  Today, students can register for classes using their computer or any of the college's computers in the computer lab.
