Bobcat Baseball History

The Bobcat Baseball team's historical ride to the NJCAA National Championship game will be remembered for a long time!  Their amazing journey to the Division II Junior College World Series started on May 15 when the team beat Holmes CC to claim only the third State Championship Title in JCJC history.  Jones also hosted the State Tournament in the new Community Bank Park May 12-15!

State and Regional Champion Bobcat Baseball Team

The 1952 team earned the first state championship and the Bobcats had to wait until 2002 to earn the second state title.  The third state title happened at home in Community Bank Park, after spending all of last year on the road.

Wasting little time, the 2011 Bobcat team headed to the Region 23 games in Holmes and the 'giant-killers' knocked of the previous National Champs, LSU-Eunice twice to claim the Region 23 Title on May 21.  Heading off to Enid, OK, Coach Christian Ostrander was feeling pretty good about his team and continued to defeat team after team in the JUCO World Series.

The 6th ranked Bobcats  stunned every team until the last two games of the Series when the 5th ranked Western OK, Pioneers turned the tables on the Bobcats and won the Title game.  The Pioneers (51-16) handed the Bobcats (46-17) their only loss in the Series.

Overall, the Bobcat's had the best season in school history.  Thier division record tied the school record for victories in a season, which the team set last year while on the road.

If you would to support the JCJC Baseball team, you can donate funds to the JCJC Foundation's Bobcat Baseball Support Fund.

Special thanks to Shawn, who attended JCJC '81-82, for contributing to this story and providing pictures all year long!  You can find his pictures on Flicker at JCJC Athletic Photos

Remember When...
in 1939, a permanent, modern syrup mill was constructed on the college farm?  It was the first of its type in the area and it worked with gas.
