Hello! Alumni and Friends,
Jennie and I are still here at Jones working part-time on special projects in the Alumni and Foundation Office. If you would like to volunteer your time on some of these projects, we'd love to have you join us!    One project I need help with involves identifying football players from the 80's. We also need help finding other ball players too.  If you played ball or think you can help, email me at [email protected] or call the office at 601-477-4145.

Sincerely,
Robert ('67) and Jennie Landrum

Honor Alumni
Terrell Tisdale  This year's Honor Alumni are three familiar faces at Jones who have served in leadership roles for more than three decades.  Dr. Terrell Tisdale a JCAHS and JCJC alumnus, served in various administrative roles and was president of the college from 1970 until 1997.  He fondly remembers driving a bus as a student in the 1950's to earn tuition and playing his trombone in the band when JCJC played in the 1955 Junior Rose Bowl. Tisdale was known as the "Building President" because he spent most of his presidency rebuilding the campus.   His son James attended Jones and his wife Martha taught piano at JCJC.

Dr. Ronald Whitehead succeeded Tisdale and served as president until 2006. He came to Jones in 1970, teaching math and serving as Dean of the College.  He and his wife Charlotte, who also taught math at Jones, established numerous foundation scholarships in his family's honor. His two children, Russell and Rebecca also grew up on campus and graduated from Jones.  Whitehead was instrumental in the development of the Advanced Technology Center and the Industrial Services Center.  Restoring the campus after Hurricane Katrina is one of the many challenges Whitehead endured during his presidency.

Tim Waldrup is currently serving as Ellisville's mayor.  He began his career at Jones in 1970 and retired in 2001 as VP of Student Affairs at JCJC.  He served as Dean of Men and Dean of Student Services during his 32 years at Jones.  Waldrup's main focus was on student government, recruiting and campus beautification.  Mrs. Pat Waldrup served as Dean of Women and cheerleading coach alongside her husband for most of his career.  Waldrup graduated from JCJC in1961 and their daughter Missie is a JC alumna and an English teacher at Jones.

Join us during Homecoming festivities as we honor these outstanding men who spent a lifetime serving at Jones.

 Remember When...
in 1936, there was an annex to the girls' dorm?
It was located in the Myer Building, three blocks from campus.  The two-story building was remodeled and 23 girls lived in the house but had to adhere to the same rules and regulations as dorm residents.
I look forward to seeing many of you this month during our special Homecoming events!

Sincerely,
Amie Herrington
