Greetings!
The 220th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has come and gone. I want to continue to try to absorb, and to reflect upon, what took place there. That is to say, I hope later to send to you a more comprehensive report about it than I am able to prepare now.
But this much I do know: the church has rarely if ever been in greater need of what the Foundation provides than it is now. The historic faith of the church, as articulated in the creeds, catechisms, and confessions of the church, has been severely challenged. We are in a unique position to help promote it again.
You are familiar with our mission and work:
The Foundation for Reformed Theology (1982-2012) Cultivates better preaching, better teaching, and better pastoral care, by Gathering ministers into ongoing communities of guided study, thus Helping them to recover and embody the historic faith of the church, in order To Build Up the church of Jesus Christ in our own day. So it is that I am writing all the officers, directors, seminar leaders, seminar members, supporters, and friends of the Foundation to seek and to urge us all to give and to give generously to the Foundation.
Your gifts make it possible for us to help ministers recover the faith and build up the church. For instance, each ministerial study seminar costs $5,000 per year. We have at least fifteen of them meeting this year! And they make up only one part of our program.
More information about how to give can be found here:
As we continue to absorb and to reflect upon what the Assembly has done, you may want to follow stories at these links:
Thank you for your faith and faithfulness, your consideration, your generosity, and your support!
