Greetings!

It is part of my work with and for the Foundation both to study the history and purpose of the Foundation and also to reflect upon the mission and work of the Foundation.

We have, of course, an official statement of the History and Purpose of the Foundation.

We also have a fairly full statement of the Mission and Work of the Foundation.

What I have been seeking is a relatively concise statement that could both serve as an introduction to the Foundation and also capture enough interest for the hearer or reader want to know more.

It occurs to me that such a statement could answer several questions.

What does the Foundation do?

      The Foundation for Reformed Theology

Cultivates better preaching, better teaching, and better pastoral care

How
does the Foundation do this?

by Gathering ministers into ongoing communities of guided study,

thus Helping them to recover and embody the historic faith of the church

Why does the Foundation do this?

in order To Build Up the church of Jesus Christ in our own day.

Well, this (without the questions!) is what we have so far. I do not think such a statement can be a final one, which is to say that we can all continue to study and to reflect upon it, with the likely result that we shall find better ways to say things in the future.

But for now, we have it posted on the homepage of our website.

We have included it in my signature to our emails, as below.

We shall plan to incorporate it into our brochures and other publicity materials.

And I hope that you will find it useful in your conversations to introduce the Foundation to others. Just remember the What, the How, and the Why.
