We Care

The We Care program is a network led by volunteers who reach out to address short-term needs - food deliveries, rides to doctor's appointments, a listening ear in the event of a loss. The Cedar Lane congregation is organized geographically by "neighborhoods"; each neighborhood has at least one chairperson to coordinate support. Look at your nametag or the map in the church office to find your neighborhood.

Should you know of a member of our community in personal need, you are encouraged to reach out to them. If you learn that this person wishes to receive a response from the church, please contact Heather Janules at hjanules@cedarlane.org All ministers offer pastoral care to our members so you are also encouraged to contact any member of the ministerial team.

GoGreen Gala Rummage Sale

and Recycling Event

GoGreen Gala Logo

The GoGreen Gala Rummage Sale and Recycling Event returns! Last year's event was a great success, and we're looking forward to building on that. Once again, the event will be the Saturday before Labor Day-this year that's September 3, and, once again, we are asking for all Cedar Laners to pitch in.

There are three important things for our members and friends to do:

·       Communicate:  get the word out.  We are reaching out to the community beyond Cedar Lane.  We'll have cards for you to hand out and post starting July 1. You can get them from the church during the week and in the lounge on Sundays.  Please help us post them at libraries, community swimming pools, grocery stores.  We'll be sending out electronic posts for you to send on to your neighborhood listservs, your Montgomery County AIM mailing lists etc.

·       Donate.  We'll be taking in donations the last week of August, starting after the Sunday service on August 28. Please donate your reusable items, and encourage your friends and neighbors to do so.

·       Participate.  Please volunteer for one of the dozens of small tasks we are asking members of the congregation to do.  Or at least come and enjoy the day.  Contact Holly Parker (cobbparker@aol.com) or Susan Clark (songsue@aol.com) to volunteer.

NEW FEATURE: Technotrash recycling. Start your summer cleanup with clearing your office of old floppy disks, CDs, video and audio tape. We will be recycling them through www.greendisk.com.  Check their web site for everything that's accepted. We'll have a recycling station set up at church starting July 1.

Partner Church Committee

Upcoming Event

Celebrate with us after church on July 3 and enjoy a festive buffet brunch with your friends and family, hosted by the Partner Church Committee!  All proceeds benefit our partner church in Transylvania.  Great food, great company, and the same great prices as last year -- $10 per adult, $5 per child, maximum $25 per family.

Music Notes From the Director of Music

The Choir will sing "Love Knocks and Waits for Us to Hear," the spiritual, "Hush, Somebody's Callin' My Name," and the anthem "Healing River" by Fred Hillerman, one of the founding members of "The Weavers" folk group. The Congregation will sing the hymns "Shalom Havayreem" and "Though I May Speak with Bravest Fire."
