"An Affectionate Remembrance"

The Reverend Roger Fritts

In my final sermon as your Senior Minister I will engage in some reminiscing about the past 18 years-the special church programs, the worship, the weddings, the memorial services, the dedication of children, the concerns of the community, the snow . . .

Volunteers:

Ushers: Carol & Terry Ireland, Fred Bowen, and Cedric Powell

Coffee Servers: Diane Wallenmeyer and Judy Parker

Audio: Warren Thompson

Visitor's Center: John Gubbings

The flowers in the Sanctuary were arranged by Betty May Cleary. The flowers are dedicated to The Reverend Roger Fritts in celebration of his 18 years of devoted ministry to this congregation with fond memories and best wishes for his new journey.

You can still write your special note for Roger's Memory Book presented June 19. Stop by the table in the auditorium during Roger's brunch.

Alert: From June 16 - August 24, there will not be access to CLUUC from Rockville Pike/Wisconsin Avenue via Cedar Lane. Please see our directions link for alternative routes.

We Care

The We Care program is a network led by volunteers who reach out to address short-term needs - food deliveries, rides to doctor's appointments, a listening ear in the event of a loss. The Cedar Lane congregation is organized geographically by "neighborhoods"; each neighborhood has at least one chairperson to coordinate support. Look at your nametag or the map in the church office to find your neighborhood.

We are delighted to announce two weddings among families in the Cedar Lane community:

Our hearts go out to Lois Delaha (Neighborhood 10) with the death of her sister, Helen Boesche, after a long struggle with cancer.

We celebrate with George and Ericka Williams Carter (N24) with the healthy arrival of Zöe Elizabeth Carter on May 26. The whole family, including older brother Zachary, are doing well. Congratulations!

Hopes for healing are with Rita Pittillo (N9) who is recovering from a fractured hip at Carriage Hill Rehab on West Cedar Lane. Visitors are welcome but please call first - 301.841.8434.

We also rejoice with Emily Holdenried (N16), whose daughter Erica married Michael Hackner at Cedar Lane on June 11. Hooray!

Best wishes are also with Pat Wigginton (N7) who had surgery this week to treat a recurrence of cancer. She is now recovering at home.

Should you know of a member of our community in personal need, you are encouraged to reach out to them. If you learn that this person wishes to receive a response from the church, please contact Heather Janules at hjanules@cedarlane.org All ministers offer pastoral care to our members so you are also encouraged to contact any member of the ministerial team.

Dr. Henry Sgrecci

Music Notes

June 19 - It's a big day as the music will be dedicated to Roger Fritts on the morning of his final CLUUC sermon. Bell Canto will unveil its new handbells in a five octave handbell presentation composed especially for Roger. The Adult Choir will sing Loren Westbrook-Fritts' "Alleluia" and Gwyneth Walker's energetic anthem "How Can I Keep From Singing." The congregation will sing three hymns that Roger has selected and that have great personal meaning to him; "Just As Long As I Have Breath," "Bring Many Names," and "As Tranquil Streams."
