Dear PPP member,

The winter weather did not prevent our Mystery Shoppers from conducting an Alcohol Purchase Survey on Dec. 30th, and from many other PPP activities to forge ahead.  Read on to see what we have been up to, and what's ahead.  Please remember that all our work group and quarterly meetings are open to the public, so feel free to join us at any time.

Parenting Initiatives
momandchild Active Parenting Train the Trainers

The PPP and Pittsfield Public Schools worked together to host two Train the Trainers workshops for community agency staff to become certified Active Parenting Workshop Facilitators.  All individuals trained as facilitators
can now lead Active Parenting Workshops in the community.  PPP is in the process of scheduling a series to be held on campus at Berkshire Community College this spring.

The workshops consist of 3 sessions during which participants learn how to improve family life and make parenting a little easier. The workshops are intended to give parents realistic tools they can use everyday at home.

AlcoholEDU
Parents can also access support online using a program called AlcoholEDU. This is an easy and quick way for parents to learn the essentials of alcohol prevention. Prom and graduation season is just around the corner so this is a prime time to reach out to parents and adolescents. Please invite all parents you know to participate in a quick, easy online survey. The website is http://highschoolparents.alcoholedu.com. To login enter the word- SHARE- in the box under NEW USER. Then click- SIGN UP.

Alcohol Purchase Survey Card Rate 84%
we id
On December 30, 8 young adult Mystery Shoppers visited nearly 60 stores and bars located in Pittsfield. All the shoppers were legally old enough to purchase alcohol, but looked young enough that clerks should have asked them for ID.  84% of the clerks and bartenders on duty carded our shoppers.  Let's see if we can make it increase next time! A big thank you goes out to all those who volunteered and participated. This activity requires lots of volunteers and our shoppers receive a stipend. To get involved please contact us at 442 - 6948
Next PPP Quarterly Meeting:  March 17, 9 am, Reid Middle School
The next PPP Quarterly Meeting is open to all those interested in the work of the PPP.  The Pittsfield Public School's Coalition for Change is hosting the meeting at Reid.  Stay tuned for details!

Thank you for your support!BUW logo
