Dear PPP Member,
The Pittsfield Prevention Partnership is working hard to increase its visibility in the community. In addition to pursuing media coverage of PPP events, the PPP marched in the Pittsfield Parade on July 5th, continues to table at Pittsfield's Third Thursdays, and is teaming up with the Westside's Gather-In to present the SAY It Proud Awards. If you know of a community event where the PPP could set up an information table, or join in the planning of the event, please let us know!
Thank you!

Look for our table at 3rd Thursdays!
| The PPP will have a table at Pittsfield's Third Thursdays. Look for the TOTALLY FREE banner on North Street in front of Paul Rich and Sons.
We will have Totally Free frisbees and lots of informational pamphlets to give away. Or stop by and fill out a nomination form for a young person you think deserves a S.A.Y It Proud Award!

S.A.Y. It Proud Awards at the Gather-In
| Five young people will receive S.A.Y. It Proud Awards at the Westside's Gather-In, on July 24th, at 3 pm in Pitt Park.
Please come and support the community and our deserving youth. These kids have been nominated by an adult in their community because they are participating in positive activities, making healthy choices, and working hard!
The winners will receive valuable prizes, thanks to our sponsors, Greylock Federal Credit Union, Pittsfield Cooperative Bank, and the Pittsfield Family YMCA.

Safe Prescription Drug Drop Off in So. Cty.
| CHP-South
Berkshire Community Coalition joins forces with the Great
Barrington Police Department and Fairview Hospital to establish the
South County
RX Round Up. The South County RX Round Up will lead to a safer community
for our
youth and protect the environment. How the initiative
works: Berkshire County residents will bring in their
unused,
unwanted or expired medications to the Great Barrington Police Station
and
dispose of them in a DEA approved disposal container. All contents are
then
collected and properly destroyed. The initiative has two phases. The
first
involves two one-day take back opportunities, the first of which is on
July 10,
2010 from 9am-2pm at the Great Barrington Police Station; the second
will
correspond with a national take-back program that is set to launch on
November
13th, 2010. The second phase will establish an on-going prescription
drug
take-back program.
The South County RX Round Up is the first medication disposal
program in
Berkshire County. The program is open to anyone who wants to dispose of
medication. Remember, you can't just flush your meds!
