~ New Colored Stone Page ~ |
For the New Year Summa Jewelers is introducing a new colored stone page on our website. We now are offering wonderful natural colored stones complete with GIA reports. These gems can be used as the centerpiece for many of our jewelry items. We'd be happy to create a unique, one-of-a-kind piece for you.
Similar to the AGS certificates we provide with many of our diamonds, the Gemological Institute of America's new Gemological Identification Reports are included with each stone. These GIA reports document the results of a full gemological examination of the stone, identifying the material and detailing such characteristics as color, transparency, shape, cut, dimensions and weight, complete with a color photo. The full report states whether the material is natural or synthetic and if it's appearance has been enhanced by an identifiable treatment.

~ A Little New Year's History ~ |
In observance of the New York Times' newly completed offices at One Times Square late in 1903, the Times invited the city to an all day celebration on New Year's Eve. The festivities ended with a fireworks display at midnight, signaling the official opening of the new offices. 200,000 came that first year. Now, up to one million people crowd into Times Square to watch a Waterford Crystal ball, 6 feet in diameter, drop 77 feet down a pole and ring in the New Year.
Canadian bandleader Guy Lombardo and his Royal Canadians played the song "Auld Lang Syne" at the Hotel Roosevelt in New York City for the first time on December 31, 1929 to usher in the new year and it has become an annual New Year's tradition.
Founded in 1991 in St. Louis, First Night is a non-alcoholic community celebration of the New Year in the Grand Center area of St. Louis (in the Powell Hall-Fox Theater area). It is a major visual and performing arts festival that is accessible and affordable to all.

~ William Henry Studio ~ |

From the damascus blade to the custom fittings, William Henry creates knives of unmatched function and beauty.
Using a wide range of custom-forged damascus billets for their blades, from ZDP-189 powder metal die steel developed by Hitachi Metals of Japan to stainless damascus from the forges of Mike Norris and Devin Thomas, William Henry blades achieve an unprecedented hardness of HRC 67, translating into superlative sharpness, edge holding and wear resistance.
And they're beautiful, too. 45 layers thick, they are patterned with a custom die to create the patterns that emerge across the surface. This material can be dark-etched for contrast, or etched and re-polished for a more subtle pattern, everything from the Dot Matrix design above to Raindrop, Herringbone, Typhoon and the patent-pending Wave Damascus patterns.
Quality gems ranging from opals to diamonds are securely mounted into matching custom fittings in each knife. This elegant touch in no way hampers the utility of the piece - a hallmark of William Henry's vision to create functional works of art. We at Summa Jewelers are proud to be an exclusive William Henry dealer.
