Current Academic Research on Activist Investing

It's been awhile since we surveyed this subject. Some superb research has come out since we last did this over a year ago.

Recently we read a few rigorous papers on critical subjects:

  • impact of governance changes on equity returns
  • impact of activism on equity returns
  • the relationship between exec comp and equity returns.

We also found a fascinating analysis of share trading strategies of activist investors. We have listed all of them on our academic paper page, with an annotated bibliography and links to specific papers where available. Our current blog post summarizes this recent research.

You can find other useful resources at the TAI website, including our research on "Effective Activism, on the Cheap", guide to exempt proxy solicitation, and our white paper with the basics on activism.
