2012 Preview - A Quiet(er) Year?

[We hope you had a couple of weeks to relax and reflect, we know we did...]

It seems a little quiet right now. Too quiet. Does this portend a less-contentious year for activist investors? Or just the calm before the storm? At the moment, we can think of just a few situations that will stir things up in 2012:

  • A few activist investing projects
  • Some proxy access action
  • Say-on-pay becoming routine
  • Possible proxy advisor regulation
We offer some ideas about what to expect this year in our current blog post.
You can find other useful resources at the TAI website, including our research on "Effective Activism, on the Cheap", the new guide to executive compensation, bibliography of academic research on the returns to activist investing, and our white paper with the basics on activism.
