Who Has the Biggest Cash Hoard?

So, all this talk about cash hoards got us to thinking: who has the biggest one?

(Previously, we responded to a shoddy defense of corporate cash holdings that appeared in a an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal, and asserted that cash holdings probably contributed to the Great Recession of 2008-2009).

With little effort we identified the corporations with the top ten cash reserves. General Electric heads the list, along with some of the usual suspects (Apple) and surprises (General Motors).

We also adjusted the figures for debt, and analyzed dividends and free cash flow. The top cash hoarder this way is our old friend Microsoft, with a few other interesting companies making that list.

See both lists, and the analysis underlying all this, in our current blog post.
