Greetings!

ALOHA NELSON FAMILY...
If you are on the church snail mail list, you have no doubt received the news of the Nelson's call to Texas this coming March.  In a letter to members that went out early in the week,  Fr. Ben announced his decision to accept a call at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in San Marcos, Texas.

Nelson familyWe thank God for blessing us with Fr. Ben and his family for the past 3 years, and are grateful for all that they have brought to this congregation with their energy and charisma.  They will be sorely missed by many and we wish them well as they continue on their spiritual and physical journey back to the states.

In the meantime, we still have 8 weeks of precious time left with the Nelson's.  The church will continue with its regularly scheduled services and all current programs and activities remain unaffected.  Please keep the Nelson's in your prayers and especially the Vestry, who will be working hard to discern the needs and direction of All Saints' Church.
Annual Meeting Coming Up
All Saints' Church's Annual Meeting is coming up on Sunday, January 29, after the 9:30 a.m. service.  There will be two regular services at 7:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.  Mark your calendars and plan to attend this important meeting.

Seeking Vestry Nominations

If you are interested in becoming a part of the leadership of the church, please consider putting in your nomination for the Vestry.  If you know someone that you think would be a good candidate, consider talking to them to see if they wouldn't mind being nominated.

Vestry positions are normally for a 3-year period, which involves monthly meetings and a few special meetings as the need arises.  But more importantly, being a part of the Vestry is another opportunity to get involved and take an active role in the care of our church, its mission and its programs.

To learn more, visit the Episcopal Church Foundation website's ECF Vital Practices.  This section contains a wealth of information regarding leadership and vestry practices, including a Vestry 101 link!

Vestry selection will take place during the Annual Meeting on January 29.  If you have any questions, please see Fr. Ben, or e-mail the office by January 22.

ECW Luncheon Coming Up January 28
wailua marinaThere will be no regular meeting of the Episcopal Church Women this month.  In lieu of their regular Christmas gathering, the women have planned a relaxing luncheon to start off the new year, and to reflect back on 2011. The luncheon will be taking place on Saturday, January 28, at the Wailua Marina Restaurant.  Please RSVP to April Womack at 245-6413 as soon as possible.

Application/Nomination forms available for Episcopal Youth Presence at General Convention 2012
Are you an Episcopal youth, or know one who would like to learn about the governance of the church while providing a needed service? Then consider the Episcopal Youth Presence at General Convention 2012.

Eighteen positions, representing two from each Province of the Episcopal Church, are opened to youth to participate in the 77th General Convention, scheduled for July 2012 in Indianapolis, Indiana, July 5 to July 12.

Bronwyn Clark Skov, Episcopal Church Officer for Youth Ministries, addressed both the importance and the honor of these positions. "The General Convention Official Youth Presence was established by an initial resolution in 1982," she explained. "The Official Youth Presence members have seat and voice on the floor of the House of Deputies during the legislative sessions and that is an exciting prospect for the youth of our church."

For more information and details on the process, eligibility requirements and forms, please visit the Diocesan website HERE.

Almighty God, whose Son our Savior Jesus Christ is the light of the world: Grant that thy people, illuminated by thy Word and Sacraments, may shine with the radiance of Christ's glory, that he may be known, worshipped, and obeyed to the ends of the earth; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, who with thee and the Holy Spirit liveth and reigneth, one God, now and for ever.  Amen.  Book of Common Prayer, pg 163
