The Story of Two Sons

Susie & Tim Grade
Susie and Tim Grade, Co-Pastors

I was born third of four kids in my family. Growing up, I had a front row seat to my two older sisters. One sister did everything right - straight A's, obedient, valedictorian of her class, never got in trouble. My other sister dated the bad boys, got into drugs, ran away from home and basically lived on the wild side. The story we are looking at this Sunday is not all that different. Traditionally it is called "The Parable of the Prodigal Son." But we will miss the radical message of the story if we don't see that it is actually about two sons. One son is immoral and "bad" while the other son is very moral and "good." But both sons are alienated from their father and therefore Jesus is saying both sons are spiritually lost. That is a remarkable message.

Join us this Sunday as we wrap up our series on the doctrine of adoption and the
beauty of being God's adopted sons and daughters.
