Your Rights

Recently it came to our attention that the FDA was looking into the animal drug products used in animal services - The article I read was in the journal - The Federal Register - It is the Daily Journal of the United State Government. This could possibly affect the ability of your vet to treat your animal. A group we belong to (for free) keeps us updated on such issues as well as helps to protect our rights of physicians, dentists, and veterinarians. To join and be kept updated, please use one of the contact info below:

Gardening Information

Onion bulbs, potato eyes, fruit trees, lettuce, collard greens, broccoli, cabbage - Now is the time. Several local businesses have these in stock, ready to plant. Asparagus, strawberries, the time will soon be here. Get areas ready. Still need to cover during extreme cold - just remember to let them get some sun on decent days. Enjoy these fresh plants and produce.

FYI

A lot of people think of the price of their prescriptions as being only the cost of the pills. What all does your money really buy you?
#1 - The actual bottle of pills
#2 - The information sheet that you can take home and read about what are all the good and bad your pills can do?
#3 - The availability of the pharmacy to your home - to your car.
#4 - The Pharmacist - the price of the prescription includes you being able to talk to your pharmacist, ask them questions about your pills and your condition - any other condition you may have - any other medications that you may take - how to travel with them - do they handle extreme cold or heat? Will they make you tired, dizzy, sunburn more easily - affect you more with alcohol, grapefruit juice, dairy? Do you need to stop any medication while taking this medication?

We get a lot of calls from patients of other pharmacies asking questions about medicines we have not filled. Those questions need to go to the pharmacist who filled your prescriptions. You paid for that when you got your prescription filled. We welcome the opportunity to fill your prescriptions and to answer your questions about them.

Sugar Substitutes

Yes, I remember all the flack about saccharine and cancer and how much it would take to do to a human what it did to a rat. I have written on the controversy concerning high fructose corn syrup, aspartame, sucralose, and saccharin. I have never seen anyone who uses those regularly become a non-diabetic. And very few who use them loose weight, so it was with interest that I watched the Dr. Oz show the other day and learned about studies showing rats that were given sugar substitutions gained weight while ones that ate a regular diet did not. So are sugar substitutes making us fat? According to the studies on that segment, yes. This segment of the show can be re-watched over the internet and a copy of the script is available at www.doctoroz.com. Now that makes my Xylitol look twice as nice.
