FYI

An interesting items about recommendations for astmatics and allergy-prone patients. If a particular smell - such as wood smoke or cigerattes - sets off your symptoms, allergy doctors are recommending washing your hair before bed. The hair holds pollen and smoke particles which get close to nose and mouth during sleep as well as rubbing items on pillows. The recommendation is particularly useful during high pollen count times.

Another FYI

During our research, we have found there is a possibilty for interactions with prescriptions, OTCs and herbals. For example, with certain natural, and alternative medicines, wounds may not heal as fast or in some cases not at all. The obvious answer would be to discuss these with your doctor and/or pharmacist. Gary can review your medications, vitamins, and natural medications. Please call for an appointment so we can allow the proper amount of time for you.

Your Compounding Update:

A popular talk show recently in Amarillo had an update on testerone cream - for women. It talked about a new recommended lower dose as well as possible side effects. They recommended a formulatory pharmacy - another name for compounding pharmacy. We can make this as well as other natural hormones per your doctors orders. For answers to your hormone questions, talk to your doctor or Gary.

Reflections

Being in the medical business makes one feel twice as helpless when disease strikes your family. My dad has glaucoma and is allergic to the eye drops he needs to keep pressure in his eyes down. Last summer while I was visiting him and Mom, we went to the garden to pick okra. I looked over and Dad was having to feel for the pods because he couldn't see them. It brought home how close he was to being totally blind. Gary and I had started looking into natural and alternative medicine - we call it complimentary medicine. I started researching glaucoma through the reference books offered at seminars we attended. Through much research I found and complied a list of herbs and vitamins that I had Dad take. In the last 90 days Dad started getting his eye sight back. He is now driving nails easily. His brother called and wanted the regiment also. His eyes were not changing when going from light to dark. I sent him down the same items in late January. He had gotten an eye exam & new glasses in November. The first week in March he had to go back to his eye doctor and get a new prescription for his glasses because his eye sight had improved so much. He told the doctor what he was taking and the doctor told him to keep it up. His pressure in each eye was down 4 points. He goes back in six months. The ingredients according to the research also could help cataracts and macular degeneration. I have stressed to my dad and my uncle to continue to be examined and monitored by their doctors. My uncle still uses his eye drops per his doctor's orders - the items that I put him on compliment his prescriptions. The items he is taking are nutritional supplements. If you or your doctor feel nutritional supplements could help your health, come by and we'll research your condition and let you know what studies are available. Oh and by the way, my uncle's eyes are improving in that they now change from light to darkness. My, that does feel good when you can help.
