Personal Matters

I haven't been doing much reading lately. Our oldest son got married in March. Our youngest son has this really adorable son who will turn one year old soon. Our daughter is going to college. I've been putting finishing touches on planting my garden. Last year it took 3 plantings to get okra up. This year every seed in first planting came up. Now just waiting to start harvesting it - yum tomatoes and okra- summer is good.

"Problem-Solver Pharmacy". "Compounding Pharmacy", "Mom and Pop Shop", "Old-Fashioned Pharmacy" are all titles we have come to be known by. Our goal is to try our best to help answer any questions, help with any health problems, and assist you to maximum health. Sometimes we can do that through compounding your prescription - currently we're doing a lot of pain medications with low levels of acetaminophen and ibuprofen to cut down on stomach and liver problems. Sometimes we can make it easier to take (and take along) by putting it in a gel to be rubbed on like a lotion (absorbs through the skin). Sometimes its just a matter of asking what you are eating and drinking when you take your medicine to determine why it's not working. Sometimes its a matter of knowing how long you need to take a product faithfully to start to see an improvement.

KATHY'S KORNER

Summer Pot Roast

1 small pot roast (feeds 4-6 people)
2 cans cream of mushroom soup
2 cans water
1 pkg. McCormick Roast Mix with roasting browning bag
1 small pkg. carrots
1 small onion
1 small pkg. fresh mushrooms
4-6 medium size potatoes
salt and pepper

In crock pot, put 1/2 can mushroom soup. Place roast on top of soup. Sprinkle seasoning mix on top of roast. Put other 1/2 can mushroom soup on top of seasoning. Place 1 can of water on top of this. Place vegetables on top of roast and seasonings. Top with other can of soup and water. Salt and pepper to preference. Cook 6-8 hours on low. I put mine on in the morning and have for supper at night. Doesn't heat up the kitchen in summer. Leftovers make great stew - just added canned tomatoes and canned corn.

P.S. - save the browning bag - we don't use it in this recipe.

Gary has requested a repeat recipe for summer:

Homemade Ice Cream

3 c. sugar
1 pint half & half
1/2 pint heavy whipping cream
2 tbls. vanilla
2 tbls. Ovaltine malt
24 Oreos crushed
1 small pkg. milk chocolate chips

Mix well and put into chilled ice cream bucket. Finish to line with milk. Churn according to your mixer directions. Let set at least 15 minutes after mixer stops. Enjoy.

Alternatives - Leave out Oreos and chocolate chips and put in favorite fruit in place. I've even used fresh cherries and cherry syrup. Just be sure to pit the cherries first.
