Travel Time - Study Time

Gary and Kathy recently attended a nutritional symposium held in Chicago. The key speakers were James Lavalle, Dr. Pamela Smith, Kate Ulbricht and Dr. James Collins. It was very interesting and informative, concerning nutritional problems and how some prescription medicines affect them.

We also learned a lot about herbals and when they should be used and when in certain conditions, they can become deadly.

FYI

Why do we ask you to come in instead of talking over the phone to you?

#1 - Our doctors, hospitals, and shut-ins can't call in if the lines are tied up.

#2 - When we see you, we may pick up on something that you may not have thought of. Example: I am so tired and feel yucky all the time - You have dark circles under your eyes. We could then ask about sinus/ allergy problems or if you are sleeping properly.

#3 - If we have talked to 30 people in the last 24 hours, we are not going to immediately know which one you are - also there are 6 of us here most days. Who did you talk to?

Therefore, it works better for you and us when you just come in and talk.

Diabetic Supplies - Medicare

Medicine For Your Needs

Every now and then someone asks why we have so many different brands of the "same" medicine. Actually, we have many different brands of different medicines with the same name. Let me explain why.

For example: We have 3 strengths of Melatonin in one brand - 1mg time released, 3mg time release, and 5 mg time released. We also have a 3 mg time released patch and we have a 1mg immediate release with a 2mg time released included in it. This one is also a pill. We have all of these because everyone's needs are as individual as they are unique. We have found if people can rest at night, they seem to do much better in the day with the rest of their symptoms - sinus problems, pain, healing, etc.

Another product we have several brands and strengths of in Vitamin C. Some people like to take the Vitamin C crystals in their morning smoothie, so we carry the crystals. We also carry the Ester-C with bio flavonoids and Ester-C with pycnogenol. We have a new Vitamin C made from camu-camu. I recently learned a lot of the Vitamin C on the market today is actually made from corn so check your source of Vitamin C if you have a sensitivity to corn.

As far as Vitamin E goes, it depends it you want the natural or synthetic kind. The natural form is usually started with the letter D whereas the synthetic usually starts DL. The strengths run from 400 IU to 1000 IU. We also carry a raw food Vitamin E made from sunflower seeds. We have Vitamin E oil which is used on your skin.

Very seldom is one bottle of something all everyone needs. Occasionally I am asked to get a specific strength of a product and most of the time we can do that.

Another thing that comes up is price. There are some serious pricing differences on products. If you are looking at 2 products - same strength - same amount (30 capsules) in a bottle and there is a large difference in price - It can sometimes be because of how well the body can use that product. The cheaper the binder used to make the pill, etc, then the cheaper the pill. Unfortunately, the cheaper the binders are usually makes it harder for the body to break down, so the body doesn't get the majority of the medicine to use.

I hope this explains how and why we have so many different items on the shelves. How can we help you find what's right for you? Come on in - Let's talk.

If you need to replace something you have run out of, please bring your empty bottle to make sure we get you handled properly.

KATHY'S KORNER

Catfish Nuggets

My kids love these things! Feeds 4

6 large potatoes - Washed - Cut up into bite sized strings
4 large catfish fillets - Cut into bite sized nuggets
1 large bottle of Italian dressing
2 Pkg. corn meal fish dressing (I buy mine at Albertsons or Tom Thumb)
2 large gallon size Ziploc bags
Canola oil & McNut Oil 50/50 combo or Canola oil

Put fresh oil in Fry Daddy or large deep frying skillet. Watch skillet closely to prevent oil fire.
Place 1 pkg. corn meal mix in baggie.
Place Italian dressing in other baggie.
Place fish in Italian dressing to coat. (I may place mine in baggie and marinate in refrigerator for 1 hour before cooking.)

Take fish (enough for one person) and place into corn meal mixture. Toss around, take out fish and place in hot oil. Wait a few minutes and add hand full of potatoes to oil. When fish and fries turn to golden brown, use a metal slotted spoon to remove from hot oil and place on paper toweled plate to drain. Repeat process for next serving.

Enjoy!
