FEBRUARY 2011
Greetings!

The Pittsburgh Steelers have participated in seven Super Bowl games, winning six. Sunday will be their third appearance in the past six years, their last two trips resulting in victories. The Green Bay Packers have appeared in four Super Bowl games, winning three. They won the first two Super Bowl games ever played and XXXI.

Mike Tomlin boasts a 48-22 overall record, including 5-1 in the postseason. He became the youngest coach to ever win a Super Bowl when he led Pittsburgh in XLIII. Mike McCarthy has a 48-32 overall record, with a 4-2 mark in the playoffs. He was named NFL Coach of the Year in 2007. The two Mikes are relatively young, good coaches. It should be a fun battle to watch.

The last time the teams met in 2009, the game went down to the final tick. Literally. Down 30-36, Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger threw a touchdown pass to Mike Wallace at the end of regulation. Jeff Reed made the extra point. Pittsburgh 37, Green Bay 36.

Green Bay is slightly favored over Pittsburgh. Over the past decade, the favorite has gone 6-4 in the Super Bowl. The last time Pittsburgh was the underdog in a Super Bowl was XXX. They lost.

Green Bay is the second No. 6 seed to advance to the Super Bowl. Coincidentally, Pittsburgh was the first, going to the 2006 Super Bowl and defeating the No. 1 NFC seed Seattle Seahawks.

Rashard Mendenhall is the favorite to score the first Super Bowl touchdown. That bodes well for Pittsburgh. In Super Bowls where they score the first TD, they are 4-0.

Pittsburgh has 25 players with Super Bowl experience. Green Bay has just two players with Super Bowl experience. In this area, Pittsburgh has the clear edge.

MY PREDICTION? No way...I'd hate to jinx them!

Enjoy the game!!!

NAKED SUSHI - PUNTA GORDA, Fla. - Gabrielle Patchell is a real dish. The petite 5-foot-6 model lies on her back with her long, blond hair splayed out on a table like an Asian fan. Nearly nude but for a thong and strategically placed leaves and artificial blossoms, she remains stock-still as people pluck sushi pieces off of her arms, legs and tummy. "She's my platter that I get to put my food on," says Brian Sung, sushi chef at Torch Bistro, Sushi and Martini Bar in Punta Gorda. The trio of chefs behind Torch - Shane Federici, Jason Bush and sushi-roller Sung - say they've booked at least one full-body sushi party a month since they opened in January. With models costing $100-$200 an hour, private parties can run $300-$400 depending on how many guests attend and how much food is ordered. Torch also serves more Italian cuisine and American comfort food, but the sexy sushi presentation is what's attracting attention. A travel writer on AOL.com ranked it second on a list of the "10 Most Outrageous Restaurants" around the world - between the No. 3 California eatery where patrons dine in the dark and the No. 1 in Japan where monkeys are the servers.

BEATLEMANIA - Former Miss Canada finalist, Mary-Lu Zahalan-Kennedy, received a Masters degree in Beatles studies on Wednesday from the Liverpool Hope University. "I am so proud of my achievement," Zahalan-Kennedy said. "The course was challenging, enjoyable and it provided a great insight into the impact the Beatles had and still have to this day across all aspects of life." The course looks at the studio sound and composition of the Beatles and how Liverpool helped to shape their music. The MA examines the significance of their music and how it helped to define identities, culture and society. Mike Brocken, founder and leader of the Beatles MA at Liverpool Hope University, said the postgraduate degree makes Zahalan-Kennedy a member of a select group of popular music experts. It was a long and winding road but now it's getting better all the time.

OUTFOXED - MOSCOW | Thu Jan 13, 2011 - A wounded fox shot its would be killer in Belarus by pulling the trigger on the hunter's gun as the pair scuffled after the man tried to finish the animal off with the butt of the rifle, media said Thursday. The unnamed hunter, who had approached the fox after wounding it from a distance, was in hospital with a leg wound, while the fox made its escape, media said, citing prosecutors from the Grodno region. "The animal fiercely resisted and in the struggle accidentally pulled the trigger with its paw," one prosecutor was quoted as saying. Fox-hunting is popular in the picturesque farming region of northwestern Belarus which borders Poland.

WATCH YOUR STEP - SCOTLAND | January 30th - A climber escaped with minor injuries after plunging 1,000ft down a rock face on a Scottish mountain range. The 35-year-old man fell the height of the Eiffel Tower shortly after he reached the summit of the 3,600ft Sgurr Choinnich Mor, five miles east of Ben Nevis. The man, who is from Glasgow and was part of a group of 24 climbers, lost his footing and fell from the summit just after 2pm Saturday. HMS Gannet's Sea King helicopter was already airborne on a training mission and arrived within 30 minutes. When the crew found the man, he was on his feet and reading a map. "We honestly thought it couldn't have been him, as he was on his feet reading a map," said Lieutenant Tim Barker, the crew's observer. "Above him was a series of three high craggy outcrops. It seemed impossible. So we retraced our path back up the mountain and, sure enough, there were bits of his kit in a vertical line all the way up where he had obviously lost them during the fall. It was quite incredible. He must have literally glanced off the outcrops as he fell, almost flying. He is lucky to be alive."

LUCKY NUMBERS - Meridian, Idaho - Tyler Ashton Marx's lucky number is going to be one, or 11, or maybe both. The son of Jared and Leslie Marx was born at 11:11 am on Jan. 11, 2011. That makes his birthday 1/11/11/11:11. Tyler was born just as the clock rolled over to the 11th minute. Dad Jared watched over the Internet from his posting in Iraq. But Tyler Marx isn't the only one in the family with a memorable birthday. His older sister was born on Sept. 9, 2009 - 9/9/09.

OBSOLETE - Consider some things that babies born in 2011 may never know: Video Tape | Travel Agents | The Separation of Work and Home | Books, Magazines, and Newspapers | Movie Rental Stores | Watches | Paper Maps | Wired Phones | Encyclopedias | Film Cameras | Phone Books | Catalogs | Fax Machines | Company Retirement Plans. What can you add to this list?

REALTOR SLICES PRICE - Sounds like a ssssteal. A beautiful five-bedroom house in Idaho for only $109,000. It comes with a tiny catch: The house is infested with thousands of live, writhing garter snakes. Previous owners described waking up in the middle of the night with snakes in their bed, finding snakes climbing up the walls all the time, and finding piles of snakes in crawlspaces. Just walking around the yard uncovered enough snakes to fill a bucket. It's likely no amount of mongooses or poison will do the trick, as the house was probably built on top of snake den, Joe Collins, director of the Center for North American Herpetology in Lawrence, Kansas told The Daily Mail. "Snakes have a great deal of fidelity to the den site," said Collins. "They're born near there and the animals return each fall to den up and avoid the cold. People always build first and never ask about an area and whether there is a snake den before they do. Afterward, it's too late: the house is there, the snakes are there and people are there. It's a great set up for a wonderful time." For the snakes, that is.

Make it a good month!
