In 1992, the UN designated March 22nd of each year as the World Day for Water in recognition of the increasingly important issues of water crisis and conservation. They urge everyone to take this day to do something proactive to address water issues.
We invite you to take this opportunity to contribute a little to one of our upcoming projects in Kenya. We have a special need for attention to our project in Maai Mahiu with Comfort the Children.
Last month, when we were in Kenya, we discovered that our borehole in Maai Mahiu would have to be delayed because the results from the groundwater analysis revealed that the water there is so high in salt and fluoride (and piping hot), that, untreated, is is unsuitable for drinking and farming.
We planned to complete this project this Spring, but we were back to the drawing board. With the help of members of CTC, as well as Rotary, we have learned what we need to add to this project in order to bring water to the center. And, the center in Maai Mahiu (once they have water) will achieve:
- education and healthcare for special needs children
- skills training and fair employment of women
- community HIV/AIDS training
- community library
- community agricultural training

That is only the beginning. Zane and the other remarkable members of CTC will begin to change the way charity is executed in Kenya with our help.
In order to bring water to this project, we will need a water purification system that is an additional expense of $15,000. Piping water and rainwater collection are not an option in this area.
Every day that goes by that we are unable to provide water there means lost opportunities to help people in great need.
In honor of this day, we hope you will pitch in what you may have already spent on coffee today.
