The Internal Control Center of Excellence at St. Petersburg College Corporate Training is currently looking at expanding its use of foreign languages to provide increased capabilities to educate and certifiy Internal Control professionals around the world. The Center has already "Certified" professional in over 15 countries. A major objective of the Center is to improve an individual's expertise through expansion of its online education and certification programs. The Internal Control Center of Excellence was established some years ago as a joint venture between St. Petersburg College Corporate Training and the Internal Control Institute. The Center's objective is to improve and promote the professional practice of building and assessing internal control in organizations worldwide. During its exsistence, the Center's partners have written a Common Body of Knowledge (CBOK) for internal control; written a study guide for learning this CBOK; developed a two-level certification program - one for internal control practitioners (CICS) and the second for highly experienced internal control professionals (CICP). There is also an online curriculum of courses entitled "Certification Series" available through St. Petersburg College Corporate Training that provides an in-depth study of the skill dimensions in the Common Body of Knowledge. The Center has also developed a quantitative rating system to rate a organization's system of internal controls against the COSO Internal Control Framework.
"The partnership has been very successful and we are looking forward to expanding the reach of the program by offering new languages. The potential for eTraining has been our focus for growth because of the ability to reach worldwide with proven programs," states Dr. James Connolly, Director of Corporate Training.
