Greetings!

James and Laura Cooking PictureA "Special Feature" this month is a complete "Lyon Bistro Menu." Bistro cooking is, at the same time, casual and sophisticated. The bistro setting is usually simple, while the food-although recognized and similar-is a bit more complex then meals you typically prepare at home. We think that those little unpretentious restaurants called bistrots in Lyon serve the most authentic French cooking you can find in France. Jim, James (our son, the Chef), James' girlfriend Samantha and I gathered in the kitchen last Sunday and prepared this easy and delicious menu. The prep and cooking was easy and fun.

We have listened to our customer's suggestions concerning viewing and printing of recipes. Each recipe below is now a direct link to our website. With one click you will link directly to the recipe. Easy to read and one more click away from a printer-friendly paper copy.

il Fustino offers the St. Dalfour world famous 100% fruit spreads in: Black Cherry, Strawberry, Apricot, and Red Raspberry. Use the Apricot in this month's recipe for Baked Apricots with Toasted Almonds. Enjoy!

Pomegranates and Weight Loss

Pomegranate PictureIn case you're not convinced of Pomegranate's "super fruit" status - here's yet additional information coming off the web that may interest you.  There are three main ways in which the pomegranate fruit might benefit those who want to take off a few pounds.
  1. As an Energy Booster, pomegranates increase the levels of energy in a person's body enabling you to be more active which, in turn, burns more calories.
  2. Pomegranates Suppress Hunger. They have significant water content which hydrates the body, making a person feel less hungry and reducing the urge to eat too much.
  3. Since pomegranates are very rich in antioxidants, they also have the ability to Burn Fat in a safe and natural way.
Some say the potassium in vinegar also aids in weight loss - we can't say for sure but Pomegranate juice and vinegar could be a winning combination. At the very least, our Pomegranate Vinegar can turn an ordinary dish into something extraordinary!

Keep in mind, we haven't verified these claims and there is never one "magic bullet" when it comes to weight loss.  We advocate using common sense.
