  Summertime
July, 2009

BrendaDear Friends,

This month we celebrate the birth of our country and give thanks for Summer, the season of growth, expansion and creativity.  We have had such a beautiful early summer here in Washington, our usual heat being softened by frequent rains and cool breezes.   I hope that each of you will find joy in this season of abundant energy, long days and sunshine.  Pursue your goals, nurture your spirit, cultivate your garden.  The wisdom of oriental medicine tells us to stay balanced in the heat and activity by eating light, cool foods in moderation, rising early, resting at mid-day and going to bed later in the evening. That sounds like a recipe for the perfect summer.

Please drop me a line at feelbetter@tealcenter.com  I'd love to hear from you.  And speaking of recipes, do you have a delicious, healthy one to share here in our newsletter?  Send it along!

To your health and vitality in this and every season,
Brenda Teal

Tennis (Elbow) Anyone?

Tennis

We can help you recover quickly from this common strain injury.

Tennis elbow pain shows up on the outside of the elbow and in the upper forearm just below the bend.  Pain will sometimes radiate downward to the wrist and may make it difficult to extend the forearm fully.  Bending the arm, grasping, or lifting even a small object such as a coffee cup may cause pain.

At the first sign of elbow pain apply ice to reduce inflammation and rest it completely until all signs of inflammation are gone.  Specific massage treatment can speed the healing process by manipulating the tendons and muscles to increase circulation and relieve pressure on the radial nerve.

When the pain is gone exercise to restrengthen and recondition the injured area. This phase of rehabilitation is necessary to avoid re-injury.

Leo's off to Medical School!

Congratulations, Leo!  After nine years with us here at The Teal Center, Leo is off to California to become an osteopathic physician. He will be missed by his colleagues and clientsFather's Day Large alike. We are delighted that he will be developing his healing gifts and bringing his intelligent, careful listening and the wisdom of his hands to many in his new profession.

If Leo was your therapist he may have directed you to someone else on our staff who can meet your needs.  If you don't have a specific referal from Leo, just give us a call and our able front desk team will find another well-trained therapist to take care of you.

Thank you all for your continued loyality and support and for sending your friends and family members to us when they need a little help to feelbetter and to heal.  There is no greater compliment.  We pledge always to strive to meet the high expectations you have of us!

Enjoy these warm summer days.  And we hope to see you whenever you need to feelbetter.

Call now to make an appointment.  Same and next day appointments are often available, especially for times before noon.
