CVEP Receives National Award for 2011 Summit
This week at the International Economic Development Council's (IEDC) Annual Conference CVEP received a Silver Excellence in Economic Development Award for our 2011 Economic Summit. "We recognize the CVEP for creating innovative and successful strategies to promote economic development in this period of global recovery," said Jay Moon, IEDC chair. "Our awards honor organizations and individuals for their efforts in creating positive change in communities. Coachella Valley Economic Partnership demonstrates that they are at the forefront of the economic development profession and are using cutting-edge, effective practices that can be replicated in other communities." Southern California Energy Summit A Success
The CVEP team participated in the Southern California Energy Summit this Thursday and Friday and the event was a great success! The event was widely attended by renewable energy industry stakeholders from across the state that convened to discuss challenges and opportunities in the renewable energy sector. Hitting especially close to home, key note speaker Lieutenant Governor, Gavin Newsom, discussed green energy and overall overcoming this economic nightmare and stressed the importance of regionalism. "Economic development is not top down, it's bottom up," he said. "If you don't like the way things look when you stand up; stand on your head."
