CVEP Awards Valley Seniors
This week CVEP's Workforce Excellence celebrated our local high schools and College of the Desert who won the FAFSA: Battle of the High School Competition. The goal for the year was to increase the valley wide completion rate by 10%. The final numbers actually increased by 14% with 58% of our valley students completing the necessary paperwork to apply for college loans, grants, etc. The grand prize went to Indio High School, 92% of their seniors completed the FAFSA. CVSBDC to Begin Workshop Series
This Monday the CVSBDC kicks off the Small Business Success Program. The series of workshops is a joint effort between College of the Desert and the CVEP's Small Business Development Center (CVSBDC) to offer a variety of workshops targeted to businesses at various stages of the business cycle. Whether you are thinking about opening a business or already have an established company the CVSBDC provides consultations and workshops/training to the local small business community. Spotlight on CViHub: W2Energy
One of the more recent additions to the CViHub is W2Energy. This start-up offers a unique patented technology designed to harvest wind and water energy efficiently. W2's technology has evolved from a "proof of concept" prototype to a more advanced pre-production unit that allows for testing the extraction of wind force in relation to available wind energy. The wind energy harvesting capability of the WindWing is 10 to 20 times more efficient than traditional wind turbines at about half the cost.
