April 6, 2012

Good Morning,

Another busy week at CVEP, please enjoy our weekly update.

Join us - Youth Entrepreneurs Competition

CVEP's Workforce Excellence team will cap off its youth entrepreneur program for 70 valley high school students on April 10 with a "Fast-Pitch" competition at UCR, Palm Desert Graduate Center. For months, the students have been working through CVEP and the Palm Springs High School Business Academy training on what it takes to create and run a small business. Now, they're suited-up to strut their stuff. As part of the competition, the young entrepreneurs will be divided into teams, given a card with a business concept and sent into a research room. Four hours later, their team will emerge to make their best pitch to start a company or a product line. The Fast-Pitch portion of the event, which will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. is free and open to the public.  Click here to read more.

CVEP attends Thermal Club Ground Breaking

This week the CVEP team attended the Groundbreaking celebration for the very exciting development, The Thermal Club, a premier private motorsports facility in the eastern Coachella Valley. It was a great turnout for this celebration which included speeches from the developers, Discovery Land Company and Supervisor John J. Benoit who also participated in a test drive around the race course. Over the span of the construction, the project is expected to bring 400 plus jobs to the east valley with 50 to 100 permanent jobs upon completion.  We look forward to seeing this club added to the list of unique experiences found in the Coachella Valley.
